Limit Poker card games

Limit poker card games are so popular due to the fact that they represent a safer frame in which to bet money than say, No-Limit games. In a Limit game a predetermined amount of money is fixed to the minimum and maximum bets and raises possible at a given table throughout the game and depending on the rounds. For the two first bet rounds, the limit is set by the lower limit amount governing the table; for the two last rounds, the bets and the raises are limited to the higher amount governing the table. The limits of a table are always stated by the name of the table under the column “stakes”. Following that formula, a table with a limit of $2/$4 implicates that for the first two rounds $2 is the precise amount that can be gambled or raised and $4 the amount to be bid or raised in the last two rounds.

Another thing that must be know and understood regarding Limit Poker card games is the fact that for each betting round only three raises can be made. This means that after a bet has been placed, it can only be raised three times, after that the players can only call the final bet or fold their cards. This last raise is known as the “cap”. This rule comes into effect during any of the betting rounds. The only exception to this rule is when just two players remain at the table playing one another, in which case, a maximum of five raises is permitted.

If you are a new player at real money tables, try to stick to Limit Poker card games that are low until you get the hang of it and can move to higher stakes and No-Limit tables.
